History
In September 2001, the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP) was launched, supported by twelve institutions from the public and private sectors for a project period of four years under the Stichting Fonds Institute CIEP (SFIC). Since then, CIEP was continued in 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2021, each time for four years. The current project period runs from 2021-end 2024. CIEP is supported by 20+ public and private institutions and companies. In 2024, the Clingendael International Energy Program was renamed Centre for International Energy Policy (CIEP).
Research and activities
CIEP’s current research and activities revolve around the issues of the geo-political and geo-economic consequences of changing supply and demand patterns in energy, in particular oil and natural gas and renewable energy carriers, and the development of European energy markets and energy policy-making against the background of international energy market developments and energy transition.
Energy Training and Education
CIEP offers on-demand training modules covering a wide range of international energy issues, customised to particular needs and interests.
